OS X Mountain Lion 10.8

OS X Mountain Lion, the ninth major release of the world’s most advanced operating system, which brings popular apps and features from iPad® to the Mac® and accelerates the pace of OS X innovation. Mountain Lion introduces Messages, Notes, Reminders and Game Center to the Mac, as well as Notification Center, Share Sheets, Twitter integration and AirPlay® Mirroring. Mountain Lion is the first OS X release built with iCloud® in mind for easy setup and integration with apps. The developer preview of Mountain Lion also introduces Gatekeeper, a revolutionary security feature that helps keep you safe from malicious software by giving you complete control over what apps are installed on your Mac. The preview release of Mountain Lion is available to Mac Developer Program members starting today. Mac users will be able to upgrade to Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store™ in late summer 2012.

Description

• 32-bit kernel extensions are not supported in Mountain Lion
• AirPlay mirroring is not supported with the with the current version of the Apple TV software

Game Center

• The Game Center Server environment is set to Sandbox. Existing Sandbox accounts may be used, or you may create a new account

In the Sandbox environment

• Game & Friend Recommendations are not supported
• Friends can view games in common but not friends' other games
• Photos are not supported
• No email vetting and friend requests to un-vetted email addresses are allowed
• No support for out of network friend requests is provided
• Game matchmaking versioning restrictions are more relaxed


Time Machine

Requires an additional hard drive or Time Capsule (sold separately).
Photo Booth

Requires a FaceTime or iSight camera (built in or external), USB video class (UVC) camera, or FireWire DV camcorder. Backdrop effects when using a DV camcorder require fixed focus, exposure, and white balance.

FaceTime

Video calls require a built-in FaceTime camera, an iSight camera (built in or external), a USB video class (UVC) camera, or a FireWire DV camcorder, and a 128-Kbps upstream and downstream Internet connection. Making HD video calls requires a built-in FaceTime HD camera and a 1-Mbps upstream and downstream Internet connection. Receiving HD video calls requires a supported Intel-based Mac.

Supports the following Mac models:

Boot Camp

Supports existing Boot Camp installations with Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows Vista, or Windows 7. New Boot Camp installations require Windows 7 (sold separately).
Exchange Support

Requires Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 Update Rollup 4 or Exchange Server 2010. Auto-setup requires enabling the Autodiscovery feature of Microsoft Exchange Server.
AirPlay Mirroring

Requires a second-generation Apple TV or later. Supports the following Mac models:

    iMac (Mid 2011 or newer)
    Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer)
    MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)
    MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer)

Power Nap

Supports MacBook Air (Late 2010 or newer), MacBook Pro with Retina display.
Gestures

Requires a Multi-Touch trackpad, Magic Trackpad, or Magic Mouse.
VoiceOver Gestures

Requires a Multi-Touch trackpad or Magic Trackpad.
Mac App Store

Available only to persons age 13 or older in the U.S. and many other countries. Requires compatible hardware and software and Internet access; broadband recommended (fees may apply). Terms apply.

Dictation

Requires a microphone (built in or external) and a broadband Internet connection.

Installation

1. Supports only the IDB.
2. Install R-Drive (in distribution).
3. Expand the image 12A193i.arc to unallocated space on the hard drive (30 gig).
4. Specify the installation partition to become active.
5. Reboot, load from the hard drive on which unfurled and try the Mountain Lion. (Volume label MountainLion) XX
